LFW 2015 Diary: Day 2
London Fashion Week is upon us and can you believe this is the first time I ever paid a visit to good ol' Somerset House? What is wrong with me? I once went to London Fashion Weekend when I was 14, traipsing along with friends in my glittery slippers and cropped cardie (oh the horror) but back in the day that was held in the National History Museum. So this was the real deal for me and I had such a blast.
OK let's start at the beginning. I initially didn't plan to make an appearance at LFW as I had a busy weekend ahead of me anyway and thought I'd leave the fashion hustle to others this time. There was absolutely no way for me to attend Day 1 as my day was jammed packed with back to back meetings. As an old uni buddy and I were due to meet for a brunch catch up today anyway, we discussed just quickly swinging by to have a little gander at what the whole LFW process was all about for bloggers and maybe even a make a fun outing for us. As such we picked to start our day with a very pooosh breakfast at the Savoy, which is just a stone's throw away from Somerset House. Again another venue I had never been to before...just a day of new experiences for me isn't it? The hotel was magnificent, the only way to describe it really. And the breakfast was not too shabby either. See for yourself:
An hour of catching up and feasting later and we were ready for the show! Not gonna lie, I was a little apprehensive at the thought of being swarmed by hoards of cameras, particularly as I know I get a silly when nervous and could just picture myself busting out my robot moves infront of all these people. Not a good look kid. Thank God I had Melisa there to hold my hand lol. Turns out it wasn't as scary as I thought and after the first few "hoards" I started feeling more comfortable having my picture taken and even incorporated some action shots for different camera men. LFW is such a great networking opportunity and I loved chatting to others and sharing information back and forth. Glad my outfit was a hit as well...fringe is back with a vengeance this season and when I saw this skirt I knew it would a be fun one for photographers to capture. It looks great when walking, I promise.
After all the excitement, I had to rush off to pick up my niece from the airport. Luckily I had just enough time to change back into my day to day attire of black jeans and sweatshirts otherwise it would have been a rather odd airport appearance. Happy to be back home in the warmth, cosy with a cuppa but as I had such a great day today I think I might make a re-appearnce at Somerset House again tomorrow. Stay tuned ;) xo
