Hello Monday and hello cuber people! Let's jump right to it cos I'm so excited to share these products with you guys as I've had so much fun trying them out recently. So backstory, my very lovely boyfriend got me these products as part of my Christmas present...with no previous prompting either :O. I was rather impressed he picked out such a prestigious and award winning brand for me, one that is perfect for deep cleansing and anti-aging (not sure what message he is sending me there - I hope I don't look old to him haha) but I'm sure his mother helped his decision making. It pays off to have a boyfriend with a mother in the beauty industry - I picked well ;)
So I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm normally quite stuck in my ways with my beauty routines. That's not to say I'm not open to change but I need to be really wowed to incorporate a change into my weekly cleansing ritual. The reason for this is twofold: 1. I'm lazy so, particularly in the week, I just want to get on with what I know works for me and get into bed asap; 2. I've struggled with acne for years so when I find a routine that works, I stick to it like glue and am terrified of trying something new that will irritate my skin and instigate a flare up. So while I got these products for Christmas, I did not actually start playing around with them until 2 weeks ago. I had to build up some courage ok. But as life would have it, my usual Vitamin C serum ran out so it was the perfect opportunity to start testing out the...
White Brightening Even Tone Serum
This anti-aging concentrate boasts reduction in the appearance of uneven pigmentation, with Vitamin C to lessen dark spots and imperfections in just 28 days! Sounds grand right? I've only been using this products for 2 weeks now so it's hard to determine its full effect, especially as they say that it normally takes approx. 3 weeks to see any difference from skin care products. What I have noticed however is that my skin feels softer, perhaps even a little plumper and definitely glowing more. It seems to feel healthier so so far so good. Plus, the reviews of this product seem spectacular so I am excited to see how this one turns out. I've struggled with acne scares and uneven skin tone for years so I'm hoping to see some positive results. If it could prevent wrinkles as well (yes, some wrinkles are starting to surface as well as a few grey hairs - oh god, what is happening?!) this would literally be a super product! Fingers crossed.
Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm
So it naturally followed to try the cleansing balm and the first thing I noticed about this product is the smell - just divine! On the packaging, it actually suggests using this product occasionally to conduct at home spa facial treatments, deeply inhaling the product while it's on to aid relaxation because it just smells that damn good. Next thing I noticed, it feels divine! Thick and silky, it feels like it's hydrating the skin at the same time as deeply cleaning it. This super cleansing treatment not only boasts deep cleansing of the skin but also a nourished, renewed and glowing complexion . Well again that all sounds splendid but does it actually work? Personally, my skin has never felt so soft or clean! It's sounds odd but it really did feel super clean but without feeling dried out (very important for combination skin like mine). It was a fantastic first experience! To be fair, I did use it along with my Clarisonic Cleanser device which may have contributed to that squeaky clean feeling but the smell alone convinced me that this is an A list product. And if that isn't enough, this balm has won 12 different awards and received copious glowing reviews about that super clean feeling. And I know it is rather pricey but well worth it, I assure you. Plus the fact that it can act as both a cleanser and a facial mask gives you real value for money. A little piece of heaven, honestly.
Frangipani Monoi Body Oil
Saving the best til last, this is definitely my favourite product of the three (hard to believe when I've already been raving about the other two, right?). This exotic body oil claims to provide superior moisturisation for dry, patchy or mature skin. Well, I hope my skin isn’t classed as “mature” just yet but regardless it felt a real treat playing around with this body oil. I’ve always been a keen advocate for deep moisturising, particularly body oils, having watched my mother, all my life, lather herself up in every type of oil there is. Her skin is incredible by the way, so that is the best beauty tip she has ever passed on to me. And I think my mother would be very impressed with this body oil which means it must be a winner. So on a rather bleak Wednesday evening, I decided to pamper myself a little with a long bath and a moisturising rub down. You have to melt the product down by placing the bottle in a bowl of hot water, which I did accordingly before going in the bath and once I was out, it had turned into a silky liquid that was ready to be poured on. I wish I could put into words how great it felt and smelt but all I can say is you just have to try it. It felt so natural to give myself a little massage while applying it; it couldn’t be helped. I felt like I had a mini spa treatment going on and all my troubles melted away. Needless to say, I slept like a baby that night. Perhaps not something for every evening as it does require and deserve time for appliance but a real treat when done. And it can be applied to hair, cuticles, hands, feet, everywhere really (though I would be dubious of applying it on my face). Apparently you can even pour it into the bath with you for a truly intoxicating sensory experience. A favourite amongst celebrities, this product is a MUST! 10/10 from me.
And that's it! The boy did really good, right? I love these products and being a newbie to Elemis, my first experience has made me keen to try more of their products. Plus I've now learned two very valuable lessons:
1. While I am still young, anti-aging is still an important feat to start thinking about. As much as I try and deny it, the first signs of aging have already made an unwelcome appearance. But however small, it’s better to take preventive action before things become too hairy.
2. I’ve always been one to think that you don’t need expensive products to get good results and while I do still believe this to be mostly true, there are some pricey beauty products that are worth the ka-ching! I believe these products might be just that and seemingly well worth their esteemed status.
Right enough. A long post I know but hopefully it's been useful though. Let me know any of your experiences with Elemis. I’m intrigued to hear what others think. Toodles xo
Sidenote: I stole this Clarisonic device from my mother (don’t judge me - she hadn’t even taken it out of the box in 6 months!) and was couldn't wait to use it. I tried it for the first time over the weekend and I’m not sure what to say really. Everyone raves about it but I just got a headache from all the buzzing on my face. Maybe I wasn’t using it right. My skin did feel really clean after using it but I worry that using it too often might be a little harsh on my sensitive skin – like exfoliating too much. I think I need to use it a couple more times before I make my final review. For that price, I bloody hope that I’m wrong!
