Get to know me a little more up close and personal, with my answers to your questions asked on Instagram this week and unedited photos, taken on film by the wonderfully talented Alisha Dandy.
THE PERSONAL STUFF
1. What’s your ethnicity and have you ever visited there?
This was probably the most asked question. I’m half Nigerian and Italian. I spent parts of my childhood growing up in both countries and try and go back as much as I can but definitely want to visit more often.
2. Where do you live?
I now live in South West London.
3. How tall are you?
4. Are you married?
Nope but I am in a very happy long-term relationship.
5. Do you play any sports?
I played a lot of Netball while at school and university but I’ve slowed down now. I’m still a huge fan of it though, as well as tennis. Anyone want a match, let me know ;)
THE SERIOUS STUFF
6. What do you do?
Second most asked question. There’s more to me than just blogging and a doing-it-for-the-gram lifestyle. I also model, write, creative direct and create content for other brands. I started doing this last year, having previously worked in the mental health sector for several years before.
7. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I’ll be 32 eek! Married with kids and killing it as a kick ass business woman with my own company.
8. What inspires you to get up in the morning?
The idea of learning something new that day that will take me one step closer to achieving my goals. I love ticking things off a checklist lol.
9. Without Instagram, where do you think you’ll be right now in your career?
That's a very interesting question. I don’t invest too much of my time and energy into Instagram so I don’t think my career trajectory would have been that much different to where I'm heading now. However, I do think Instagram is a great method for quicker exposure so perhaps it would have taken longer to get to where I am today without it.
10. If you weren’t doing what you’re doing now, what would you be doing?
I’d have probably taken my doctorate in Clinical Psychology, which was a previous passion of mine. It would have been awesome but I’m happy with my new career choice.
11. What advice would you give anyone starting out in your line of work?
Get on with the work you need to do, continuously work on developing your craft, meet people who can help you on your journey, have patience and trust in yourself to go all the way however long it takes.
THE FUN STUFF
12. Book recommendations?
Anyone that knows me IRL knows that I’ve been obsessed with Grit by Angela Duckworth. It completely changed my outlook on success and work ethic.
13. If you were a chocolate, what chocolate would you be and why?
I’d be a Malteasers reindeer because I love them and I’m totally obsessed with Christmas.
14. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I wouldn’t want to be tied down anywhere right now. I love travelling and the idea of my job taking me to all different corners of the world. I want to be able to take my children along too, living in different countries and experiencing different cultures - just as my mother did with me.
15. If you could be an accessory what would you be and why?
I’d be a gold hoop because it's a wonderful contradiction that encompasses so many different traits in one eternal circle: simple yet statement, elegant yet edgy, classic yet trendy, retro yet modern.
16. Guilty pleasure?
I love watching Keeping up with the Kardashians with a vanilla latte and lemon loaf (on a weekday afternoon when I should be doing work lol).
17. Fave Photographers?
Annie Leibovitz - she has a beautiful way of capturing a certain mood through her portraits.
18. Fave Bloggers?
Negin Mirsalehi 100 %.
19. Fave Childhood Memory?
There’s too many to pick! Going to French school in Tanzania, school discos in Nigeria, dancing to Disney songs with my brother in our flat in Amsterdam or summer BBQs at my sister’s house in Denmark. Basically travelling around the world with my family!
20. Skin Routine & Fave Products?
I’ve loved incorporating oil cleansers into routine. Product recommendations here.
