"MORE LIFE. MORE TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. MORE LIFE. I'VE STILL GOT VIBRATIONS TO SEND. MORE LIFE. THEY SAY THAT WE COULD LIVE FOREVER. AT NIGHT I PRAY IT'S TRUE. I’VE DONE SO MUCH IN MY SHORT TIME AND STILL THERE’S MORE TO DO BUT IF SOMEONE SHOULD COME COLLECTING SOONER THAN WE’RE ALL EXPECTING AT LEAST THE LIFE YOU LIVED WAS ONE FOR YOU" - DRAKE
Work work work work work work, that's what my life has been looking like lately. And not in a cool Rihanna ft Drake music video way, more in an all-consuming-anxiety-driven-obsession-that-left-me-sick-and-drained kind of way. As a result, I had to take a step back and re-evaluate things, lest the plague I was suffering from would suffocate me from the inside out.
I asked myself, when was the last time I had fun! Like not work related fun e.g. networking events or blogger hangouts. 'Girl in her 20s living in the coolest city' fun. I don't go out much anymore and I feel guilty doing light-hearted activities. Basically, I've become a recluse lol! I used to be the life of the party, now I'm that girl who can't leave the flat without her laptop firmly attached to her hand!
Even my fashion has been somewhat dull lately because there's been no brain space left for outfit planning. I've been living out of the same black jeans, black jumper, black boots, black coat combo for more days than I care to admit online lol. Thank God I'm a blogger and people send me shit. New inspiration has literally arrived on my door step in the form of the brand Basic Terrain who have injected some much need excitement into my wardrobe (see my favourite pieces further down).
We're in the prime of our lives people. This is supposed to be some of the best moments for us, creating memories we can look back on in the future and smile at. I don't want my laptop screen to be all I remember from my 20s. I'm starting to make a conscious effort to manage my work/life balance better and allowing myself some more fun (check out yesterday's post on what I got up to last week), something we all should be mindful of. After all, it adds to our inspiration pool, helping create better content, not just a "5 Props Every Blogger Needs For A Flatlay" kind of post (no offence, it's just not my style).
I'm all for hard work but we need enjoyment and good times too, am I right? Otherwise what's the point? That's what we work so hard for, more good times. So here’s to more life (respect to Drake for his new playlist)! Gotta keep it fresh and live out some more adventures, who’s with me?
